The Polish horror studio, Bloober Team, is busier than ever, with seven titles in development at the moment. Earlier this year, the developers confirmed the next entry in the Layers of Fear franchise.
Just over the last week, Bloober Team confirmed a Cronos: Lazarus DLC for Cronos: The New Dawn, a new trailer confirming the fall release date for Silent Hill: Townfall, and also announced SAW: Genesis, a multiplayer horror game. Less than 48 hours later, the developers also announced they are working on a Star Trek horror game, which Paramount Games will publish.
Bloober Team recently revealed a sci-fi psychological horror game set in the Star Trek universe, known as Star Trek: Shadow Frontier. They have also confirmed the return of the franchise’s fan-favourite character, Ro Laren.
In Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, players will play as Ro Laren, a former Starfleet lieutenant from Star Trek: The Next Generation, who will be voiced again by Michelle Forbes. As she goes on a rescue mission, her ship crashes onto a mysterious planet that appears to be overrun by an alien entity.
The story begins to take a more psychological turn as she focuses on her survival. The more she uncovers, the worse it gets for Laren, as an unknown force begins to warp reality, making it difficult for her to tell what’s real and what’s not.
Star Trek: Shadow Frontier will offer a gameplay experience similar to previous Star Trek games, with tools like the tricorder for scanning and a phaser for combat. The release date has not yet been confirmed, but the game is expected to launch sometime around 2027.
You can watch the announcement trailer and wishlist the title on Steam.
