Silent Hill: Townfall Patch Makes The Weight Less Frustrating

Silent Hill Townfall: A man with glasses and a beanie hat cowers and screams with his hands over his ears.

If you’ve been playing Silent Hill: Townfall recently and you’ve been frustrated by some of the more stealthy parts, fear not. A new update has been sent out by developer Screen Burn, which addresses some of the “in-game issues,” including the frustrating The Weight sections.

In a recent patch notes post over on the Konami website, version 1.4.0 has started rolling out for all systems. Among numerous tweaks and changes, one of the biggest things is the “AI improvements for enemies,” especially The Weight. For those who haven’t played Townfall yet, The Weight is a monster that stalks the player and cannot be killed with regular weapons.

Some have found these sections to be annoying in an otherwise decent game. Here’s what’s been improved:

Silent Hill Townfall: a flashlight shines on a deformed being with a twisted, humanoid body.

  • Grab attacks now deal heavy damage instead of causing instant death on Story Mode and Normal difficulties.
  • Searching behaviors have been improved to prevent The Weight from ‘camping’ in front of the player’s objective for long periods of time.
  • Searching behaviors have been improved to prevent The Weight from repeatedly searching the same location and remaining there for long periods of time.
  • Hunting behaviors have been improved to prevent The Weight from tracking the player too aggressively.

There have been some tweaks to the general enemy AI as well, including reducing sensitivity to sounds and giving players more time to react. Some bug fixes have been thrown in there as well.

Hopefully, version 1.4.0 of Silent Hill: Townfall should make encounters with The Weight less frustrating.
