Resident Evil Veronica Will Use a Third-Person View, Confirms Capcom

During the recent Summer Game Fest presentation, Capcom officially revealed Resident Evil Veronica, the remake of one of the most beloved entries in the publisher’s flagship horror series.

While the announcement wasn’t a complete surprise – since rumors of a remake have been circulating for a while – fans were still impressed by the game’s first trailer. However, the video did leave players with one important question: will Resident Evil Veronica be played in first-person or third-person?

Fortunately, Capcom has provided a clear answer in a conversation with IGN. The remake’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, confirmed that Resident Evil Veronica will be a third-person game.

It’s worth noting that the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 all use a modern over-the-shoulder third-person camera. Meanwhile, the more recent mainline entries moved to first-person, including Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and the original version of Resident Evil Village. Later versions gave players more options, with Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil Requiem allowing both first-person and third-person perspectives.

Because of this, fans were unsure whether Capcom would make Resident Evil Veronica a first-person or third-person game, especially since the reveal trailer is shown in first-person.

The producer also confirmed that the team developing Resident Evil Veronica is the same team behind the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. According to Hirabayashi, this gives fans a good idea of what kind of experience they can expect, as Veronica will follow the style established by those previous games.
