Capcom has shared new hints about the Resident Evil Requiem minigame coming in May, and it seems it could be something that is quite familiar for longtime fans of the series. Even though Resident Evil Requiem has already sold seven million copies, Capcom is still continuing with updates, while many players are still waiting for story DLC after receiving Photo Mode.
Before that, however, a new minigame is arriving in May. Capcom says it is for players who feel they “still haven’t had enough fun,” suggesting that it is meant as extra content for those who have already finished the main experience and want more. The company has not officially confirmed which mode it is, but the latest hints make it seem more and more likely that this minigame could be The Mercenaries.
This information comes from an interview with director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa published by the Japanese website Denfaminicogamer. When they were asked about the minigame, many readers immediately thought about The Mercenaries mode, which is one of the most popular extra modes playable in the Resident Evil series.
Capcom said, “This mini-game is content that is unlocked after clearing the main story. So, if you’re planning to play it, clearing the main story during Golden Week would be just right for you to be able to play it.” Since Golden Week is happening right now in Japan, this strongly suggests that the minigame could be released next week. This timing has made the theory even stronger.
The article also shows an image of Leon that looks like it could be from Mercenaries mode. It is the same image seen in one of the Requiem trailers, but it does not appear in the main game itself.
