Just recently, it was reported that the very first look at the Resident Evil movie is likely to be unveiled during this year’s CinemaCon. As expected, the director and writer of Weapons, Zach Cregger, was present at the show and finally unveiled the first trailer for the movie.
The director even had a few things to share with the fans. Cregger stated that he has spent a massive number of hours with the franchise and that it is a gold standard of survival horror. He stated:
Over the last couple of decades, I have played a shit ton of Resident Evil. It is absolutely the gold standard of survival horror.
The director has previously claimed that he is aware that he will be crucified if the movie strays from lore, and that won’t be the case. He reiterates that the movie will feature a similar pacing and atmosphere to the original games, and if you are a fan of the franchise, you’d see its influence everywhere in the movie.
Per the trailer, the film starts with Austin Abrams having issues with his car and needing to use the phone. As he gets the chance to talk to his partner, he states, “I’m in a seriously fucked up situation right now, and it looks like there is a chance we may not get to talk to each other again,” and runs for his life.
We won’t reveal much to keep your experience a fun one, as we are only a few months away from the Resident Evil movie, which is slated to launch on September 18.
