Following the official announcement of Resident Evil: Veronica, fans have been curious to know whether Capcom plans to revisit other classic entries in the series. There are already rumors of a Resident Evil 0 Remake being in the works, which was reportedly rebooted mid-development and is now led by the main Resident Evil team.
One of the most reliable Resident Evil leakers in the industry, Dusk Golem, recently posted on ResetEra and discussed the Resident Evil 5 & 6 Remakes. According to him, Capcom currently has no plans to revisit either title, as the company isn’t looking to remake every game in the franchise.
He stated:
There is no plan to remake RE5/RE6 right now; there isn’t an initiative to remake all the Resident Evil games specifically, and they aren’t thinking of tying this remake line to Requiem specifically.
Golem also said that Capcom is likely to revisit these titles, especially a Resident Evil 5 Remake, in response to fan demand. He believes that demand for these remakes will increase following the release of Resident Evil: Veronica and the Resident Evil 0 Remake, and Capcom won’t ignore it. He said:
I think RE5 will probably be remade someday because fan demand for it will likely increase after Veronica, Zero, & RE:1, and eventually Capcom won’t ignore it. That’s just what I tend to think will happen.
While Resident Evil 5 & 6 Remakes don’t appear to be in development at the moment, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt, as Capcom has not officially confirmed anything yet.
Since the developers are already occupied with two remakes and the DLC for Resident Evil: Requiem, it makes sense that they aren’t planning any additional remakes right now.
