Play as the ‘Ghost Recorder’ in Sylvio

Earlier this morning, Polygon noticed Sylvio popping up on Steam Greenlight. This new game from Niklas Swanberg stars Juliette Waters, an audio recordist specializing in Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Her friends call her the “Ghost Recorder.” In her pursuit of a good ol’ spooky recording she has decided to tresspass into a park called Saginaw, which has been closed down since 1971 due to a deadly storm. Unbeknownst to the intrepid Juliette, the park is said to have been cursed when settlers burnt down a Native American village. The curse is called Sylvio in old Italian scriptures, which means “dwelling in the forest.” When she gets to Saginaw, she finds there’s someone or something residing there, and she is picking up whispers on her equipment. Uh oh.

Juliette will have a few devices to help her out, including a microphone to pick up the EVP and a reel recorder that can be played forward and backwards at different speeds to hear secret messages. She also utilizes a gun that uses pressurized blasts of air to launch anything you can find in the environment. The Steam Greenlight page has a few GIFS of the gameplay, which looks to be in the first person perspective. The trailer on the page has some pretty sweet synth pads going on that mesh well with the Lynchian inspiration. It sounds straight out of Twin Peaks in the beginning. As of now, there is no release date. Sylvio will be coming to PC, Mac, and Linux.
