Showing no signs of slowing down, Bloober Team is hard at work on its next horror project. Onyx: The Dark Grip is an upcoming game from the Layers of Fear and Silent Hill 2 Remake studio, bringing the developer’s well-known style to consoles. It’s also going to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
At this year’s Nintendo Direct, Bloober showcased an announcement trailer for Onyx. The video’s got that unmistakable vibe the Polish outfit has been honing these past few years, only with some side-scrolling 2.5D shots as well. The story i s described thus:
Survive as a vessel, intervene as a god. You play as the mysterious Entity, guiding the actions of a lone traveler who has arrived in the desolate ghost town. Use your powers to manipulate the environment and prevent your puppet from descending into the depths of madness.

It seems this is the mysterious Project M the studio was hinting at earlier this year, which was also a Nintendo-only release. It also looks as though it’ll make use of the the tilt mechanics from the Switch 2, according to a report from Eurogamer.
Not much is known about the new game itself other than what’s in the trailer. What we do know is Bloober Team is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Along with Cronos: The New Dawn celebrating its first year recently, the team is also working alongside its subsidiary studio, Broken Mirror Games, on the upcoming SAW: Genesis.
There’s no release date for Onyx: The Dark Grip, other than it’s set to launch in 2027. We’ll bring you updates as and when we hear of them. In the meantime, follow us on Facebook for more horror gaming news.
