Bloober Team and Broken Mirror Want Physical Games to Stay

Over the years, we have seen physical game releases gradually decline, to the point where Sony confirmed it will stop producing physical discs for all new PlayStation releases starting January 2028.

She news has received mixed reactions from players. In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno, whose studio developed the Silent Hill 2 Remake, discussed the future of physical releases, saying he would love to continue making physical games:

If we can produce a [physical] retail version of our games, we would like to make them for as long as possible.

Tymon Smektala, Broken Mirror Games’ new executive director and former Dying Light franchise director, also took part in the interview.

They shared the same sentiment as Babieno, saying:

Both me and Piotr, we are from the era where being a gamer meant you are a collector of stuff. And as long as it will be possible, and as long as the big decision makers will allow us to have that, then of course I’ll be into that.

It’s good to see that there are still developers who want to preserve physical games for as long as possible. What do you think about the future of physical games? Let us know in the comments, and follow us on Facebook to stay updated on the latest horror gaming news.
