Texas Chain Saw Massacre Signature BBQ Dry Rubs: Review

Texas Chain Saw MassacreGun Interactive, the developer of the asymmetrical horror game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, recently partnered with LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue to release a line of signature dry rubs based on the title. Lucky for us, the fine folks at Evolve PR and Gun Interactive were kind enough to provide us with a commentary pack.

The Family Recipe Dry Rub Pack comes packaged in a smart-looking black box, branded with the TCM game logo.

The three signature rubs that come in the Family Recipe Dry Rub Pack are:

  • Cook’s Pork Rub: Kosher Salt, Brown Sugar, Granulated Garlic, Chili Powder, Paprika, Cumin, Cayenne Pepper.
  • Hitchhiker’s Chicken Rub: Kosher Salt, Mustard Seed, Parsley, Coriander, Granulated Garlic, Rubbed Sage
  • Leatherface’s Beef Rub: Black Pepper, Kosher Salt, Granulated Garlic, Cumin, Cayenne Pepper

I prepared pork chops for the first rub, chicken wings for the second rub, and steak for the third rub.

Pork Chops

I generously applied the rub to ensure complete coverage of the pork chops. They were cooked on a propane grill at 400°F for 5 minutes on each side. They came out juicy and had a bold, tangy, smoky flavor. This one was easily my favorite of the three rubs.

Chicken Wings

The chicken wings were cooked on a propane grill at 400°F for a total of 16 minutes, flipping them over every 5 minutes. They had a pleasant, mild, herbal taste. This rub wasn’t as strong as the other two, yet had a distinct flavor with noticeable hints of parsley and sage.

I was pretty liberal with my application of the rub here since I enjoy a bolder flavor. The steak was cooked on a propane grill at 400°F, 5 minutes on each side, and came out medium rare. Black pepper and cayenne pepper defined its extraordinary, robust taste.

We would once again like to thank Evolve PR and Gun Interactive for providing us with this delicious sample pack of Texas Chain Saw Massacre Signature Dry Rubs. We highly recommend picking one up, especially for anyone who loves bold Texas-style flavors. Limited quantities of the Dry Rub Pack are available for $39.99 at the official shop of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
