Toy Story gone insane? ToyQuest is a brilliant Metroidvania game looking for Greenlight votes

Toyquest

Toys are coming alive when the light goes out, but they aren’t looking to keep kids up all night to play games; these toys are planning to do something evil to their owner “Felix” and its up to you to save him.

ToyQuest is a 2D Metroidvania game with environments that are randomly generated each time. As the action figure “Brand” you must explore the dark house, fight off the armies of evil toys, and build up a base that can stand against the darkness. The game is inspired by classic video games from the 80’s and 90’s, with graphics and sound that are reminiscent to that period of games, except with a more modern quality to them.

The trailer below shows off a lot of gameplay and I must say it all looks quite exciting. I have always enjoyed games in which you play something tiny exploring everyday locales. While it’s not as creepy as one would hope, it does look like the all-important gameplay is tightly-designed and lots of fun. The game is scheduled for release in 2015 and has already reached the top 10 on the Greenlight charts, so head over to the source if you wish to vote as well.
