Dragonis Games and Iphigames have confirmed that The Shore: Enhanced Edition will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2026, bringing the Lovecraftian horror adventure to consoles for the first time. An Xbox Series X|S version is also planned for later this year, marking a continued expansion for the title five years after its original PC debut.
First released in 2021, The Shore was the debut project from developer Ares Dragonis and quickly drew attention for its oppressive atmosphere and commitment to cosmic horror. Built around the themes and philosophy of H. P. Lovecraft, the game leans heavily into ideas of insignificance, forbidden knowledge, and the presence of ancient forces beyond human understanding.
Players will step into the role of Andrew, a father searching for his missing daughter on a remote, cursed island. What begins as a personal investigation quickly spirals into something far more unsettling. The island itself is shaped by dormant, otherworldly entities, with reality fracturing around Andrew as he pushes deeper into its ruins.
Game Features:
- Explore the Forbidden Island: A dark and abandoned island inspired by Lovecraftian horror, with villages, ruins and strange landscapes.
- Cosmic Horror Atmosphere: Dark visuals, huge creatures, and unsettling locations create a constant feeling of dread.
- Uncover a Tragic Story: Learn Andrew’s story through exploration, notes and events that reveal the island’s past.
- Solve Eerie Puzzles: Solve simple environmental puzzles using logic, observation and strange objects.
- Face Eldritch Entities: Encounter frightening creatures beyond human understanding.
- Artifacts of the Old Gods: Use powerful ancient items to survive and move forward, but every power has a cost.
- Immersive Sound Design: Sounds, whispers, and silence build tension and pull you deeper into the world.
The upcoming release also represents a long-awaited milestone for the developer. According to Dragonis, player demand for a console version has been consistent since launch, and this release is intended to deliver the definitive way to experience the game.
Alongside the digital release, a physical bundle that pairs The Shore with Necrophosis: Full Consciousness is scheduled to arrive on May 28. You can watch the release date trailer below, and continue to follow us for all things new in horror gaming.
