Earlier in April, solo dev Studio Abattoir announced a new psychological horror RPG, The Pines, with an announcement trailer that didn’t reveal much to fans.
A few months later, we now have a gameplay trailer that showcases cultists, chainsaws, and some seriously insane people. The studio has also confirmed the release year for The Pines.
This latest trailer offers a fresh look at a picturesque therapy retreat that hosts unstable residents, dangerous secrets, and deep conspiracies. In the game, players will take the role of detective Edward Walker, who is tired and annoyed because of his unresolved case.
Taking some time off from work, he goes to a peaceful place called “The Pines,” which turns out to be everything that Edward hadn’t expected it to be.
Soon after arriving, Edward realizes something is fishy, as the retreat holds disturbingly dark secrets. Though he’s on vacation and away from his natural habitat, he begins to investigate the place and look for clues. Every action in this game has its own consequences, so think before making a move..even before talking to a local.
The release date for The Pines has yet to be announced, but is confirmed to be sometime in 2027. You can watch the full trailer below and wishlist the game on Steam.
