Have you been celebrating the Raccoon City Incident this week?

This week has been quite a notable one for Resident Evil fans. Not only did we see the release of CODE: Veronica X HD on PSN and Xbox LIVE, but we’re also right in the period of time known as the Raccoon City Incident. Yeah, we’re nearing the end of this period in which the outbreak happened, which has served as a back drop for the classic games in the series, and some spin-offs, and will also do so for this winter’s Operation Raccoon City.

From September 22 to October 1, the fictional town of Raccoon City was struck by the T-Virus outbreak. And it all started with that memorable, flashback scene in Resident Evil 2 where HUNK and his team (the USS Alpha squad) broke into William Birkin’s lab, shot him and stole his previous G-Virus. In his final act, Birkin injected himself with a G-Virus sample he still had with him. He then starts his gradual mutation and kills many of the USS members, except HUNK, of course. The rats in the sewers then spread the T-Virus, which had gone to the sewers after the battle that happened above in Birkin’s lab. The rest is history, and it all ends with Raccoon City being wiped off the face of the Earth.

So, what have you been doing this week to celebrate this fictional event which has been crucial in making Resident Evil the most successful survival horror series of all time? I’ve been playing a lot of Resident Evil 2 and enjoying the recent HD releases. What have you been playing?
