New Control DLC The Foundation Lets You Revisit The Oldest House
Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games have just released a brand new trailer for the first Control DLC, entitled The Foundation. The trailer teases new mind-bending abilities, a new type of Hiss enemy and a mysterious new sector to explore within the Oldest House.
Per the developer:
The Foundation expansion will delve into the Oldest House’s history. Jesse is alerted by the Board that a situation has arisen in the Foundation, the bedrock of the Oldest House. A mysterious structure called the Monolith has been damaged, resulting in the Astral Plane leaking into the Foundation. If Jesse does not find a way to stop it, the entire Oldest House, along with the Bureau, will be consumed by this invading dimension.
In The Foundation, Jesse will be armed with two new abilities called ‘Shape’ and ‘Shield Rush’ as well as an upgrade to the service weapon called ‘Fracture’. ‘Shape’ and the ‘Fracture’ upgrade will enable Jesse to reshape and rupture the environments of The Foundation, while the ‘Shield Rush’ ability lets her charge at enemies and knock them backward. This new DLC will offer roughly 4-5 hours of new gameplay. In addition to the release of new DLC, Remedy is also including new updates to Control which include improved map functionality, the option to reallocate Ability points using Essence at Control points and other improvements.
According to Remedy, those who already own the Digital Deluxe version of Control for PS4 will automatically receive The Foundation expansion upon launch. Players who already own the PS4 base game or PC version from the Epic Games Store can purchase a DLC season pass for $24.99, which includes access to The Foundation expansion and a second expansion, AWE, which is slated to release in late summer 2020. Players also have the option of picking up either expansion separately for PS4 or PC for $14.99 each.
While our own Rourke Keegan didn’t exactly give Control a glowing review upon its release, I personally loved it and have been anxiously awaiting the release of additional narrative-driven DLC.
