Latest Bloodstained Update Adds New Playable Character

Bloodstained

If you needed an excuse to revisit Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, then you don’t need to look any further, as the latest update seems to add a lot of replayability.

After achieving the game’s Good Ending, players will now have the ability to play as Zangetsu. For the unfamiliar, Zangetsu was the protagonist of the spin-off title Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and was a side character in Ritual of the Night. Unfortunately, Zangetsu’s playthrough lacks any new story content, which seems to be disappointing some fans. On the bright side, Zangetsu doesn’t seem to be a mere reskin of Miriam as he will be complete with his own set of movement and combat abilities. Several gameplay elements will also be disabled like crafting and consumable items, presumably to add an additional layer of difficulty.

The second noteworthy addition is the game’s new Randomizer. As the name would imply, this feature allows players to randomize various game elements such as enemy drops, key item locations, and more. It looks like there will be a lot of different settings to customize the extent of the shakeup wanted. You can read all of the details here.

An important side note is that players who have already completed the game will need to defeat the final boss again to access the new content, so take advantage of the save data if you have any. The update is currently available for PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, this update won’t be accessible to Nintendo Switch players for another week according to the Bloodstained Twitter account.
