Konami recently deleted a post regarding the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake, which stirred up controversy earlier this year. Konami shared the post on X/Twitter in May, stating that they had designed the game for “modern audiences.” This announcement upset many longtime fans of the game who worried about potential changes to the beloved classic. The removal of the post, with no explanation provided, has raised more questions than answers.
As spotted by That Park Place, the deleted post included comments from Bloober Team’s Lead Producer, Maciej Glomb, who explained, The biggest change was how to make the game approachable for newcomers, while retaining the familiarity for players who remember the original.
However, the post’s sudden removal, alongside concerns about changes made to characters like Maria, has only fueled suspicions that Konami may be downplaying aspects that fans have criticized. This move seems to align with a growing belief that studios are shifting their marketing to avoid backlash over modernized elements, while still making significant adjustments to the games themselves.
The controversy doesn’t end there. Many believe that consultancy company Hit Detection (formerly Sweet Baby Inc.) was involved in the development process, leading to changes perceived as “woke” by parts of the fanbase. This belief stems from the appearance of the company’s name in the game’s credits. Despite receiving positive reviews upon release, the decision to delete the post has left fans skeptical of the studio’s true intentions.
