Independent Swedish game development studio Krufs Production has revealed Heavy Metal Death Can, an unforgiving survival horror experience steeped in deep-sea terror and crushing claustrophobia. Plunge into old-school survival horror aboard an alt-history 1970s Cold War submarine in the depths of the Norwegian Sea. You must fight to stay alive against your fallen crew, whose corpses are being controlled by the insidious Sludge, as you uncover the mysteries lurking below.
The upcoming title draws from ’90s classics like Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark to deliver an unforgiving, foreboding survival horror experience. This isn’t a threat you can simply shoot your way through. Every bullet, every decision, and every risk must be carefully considered.
Heavy Metal Death Can also features a distorted soundtrack that heightens the tension at every turn.
The game takes place aboard the fictional vessel Domherren, inspired by real-life submarines of the era. It blends historical authenticity with alt-history design. Everything from the uniforms, control panels, and interiors are all rooted in a Cold War reality.
Features:
- Old-school survival horror inspired by the style of early console classics
- Fixed camera angles and tank controls, with optional modernized controls
- Resource management and high-stakes decision-making, every bullet counts
- A distorted, tension-driven soundtrack and unsettling ambient audio
- Retro-inspired visuals enhanced with modern rendering techniques
- A late-1970s Swedish Cold War setting with an alt-history twist
Heavy Metal Death Can brings death, decay, and distortion to PC on May 28. You can wishlist the game now on Steam.
