Fans of asymmetrical games and classic horror franchises have no doubt been anticipating Halloween: The Game. Releasing just yesterday, developer Illfonic has been keen to share how well things have been going so soon after launch.
In a post on the official Steam page, Halloween had already brought in over 500,000 players within just a few hours. This was echoed over on X, with a message thanking everyone who’s stepped into the shoes of Michael Myers and/or the survivors.
Just hours after the official release of Halloween: The Game, we’re thrilled to welcome over 500,000 new residents to Haddonfield!
Thanks to everyone who’s already jumped in and started slashing (or saving) the people of this once quiet, peaceful town.

According to SteamDB, more than 33,000 of those players have been through the PC version. At the time of writing, over 15,600 are currently playing. To that end, it suggests that the half a million figure goes across the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series ports as well.
Currently, Halloween: The Game is showing as “Mostly Positive” on Steam. Obviously, it’s early days, but some users have expressed concerns about a few bugs or poor optimisations. No doubt the developer will tweak these are things move along.
