E3 2019: Resident Evil 5 & 6 Coming to Nintendo Switch
While the trailer was a bit bizarre (mostly dedicated to showing off REmake on Switch, which came out weeks ago), during today’s Nintendo Direct, Capcom has announced that two more RE games are coming to Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are both making the jump, although they didn’t show any gameplay.
I’m a bit worried, understandably. Resident Evil Zero and REmake run… terribly on Switch, and RE4 only runs acceptably. Throwing in the much more demanding (as in not ports of GameCube games) titles RE5 and 6 that feature co-op on top of being more robust games in general. We’ll see, but hopefully the feedback from the Origins Collection ports especially can help these not end up in that sort of a state. I still wonder what exactly it is that went wrong with Zero and REmake, other than just rushing them? Zero’s issues especially feel like the result of poor optimization (in case you don’t know, it can take as much as 25 seconds to load through a door in certain areas), so I’m just… wary of what these will be like. Fingers crossed I guess. I would have rather had a patch for those before getting these, but RE5 is a game I really enjoy and would love to have on the go. RE6 less so, but the Mercenaries mode would be perfect for on the go. No release date yet for these other than “fall”, but I imagine probably October to get in with the spookies. We’ll keep you updated, and let you know as soon as we do how they fair on the system.
Now I’m going to go watch that Breath of the Wild 2 trailer about a hundred more times because I haven’t been as hype for something since REmake 2 was announced.
