Konami offering exchange program for Silent Hill HD Collection (Xbox 360)

Contrary to reports from Examiner, Konami is not giving away free games to owners of the Xbox 360 version of the Silent Hill HD Collection. What Konami is actually doing is an exchange program for those who can’t stand to look at their copies due to its faults.

The exchange program gives North and South American customers who have purchased the game before August 8th a chance to trade their HD Collection for a different Konami title (list below). Requests for an exchange must be done via an email to Konami Customer Service along with a proof of purchase receipt from a recognized retailer. Those who qualify will be sent a shipping label for their copy of the HD Collection. If you feel so inclined to exchange your copy of the game with one of Konami’s other titles, you have until October 7th to do so.

All of this is one big mess for Konami. I just don’t know what’s going on over there. Time and time again their negligent actions have caused their fans to lose faith in them and the Silent Hill series. A late patch is troubling and doesn’t look good but cancelling a patch altogether after explicitly announcing it? Ouch. Konami is actively killing its own reputation with how it handles its business. It’s not good for us or them. I just don’t get it.

Well, at least we have another confirmation that the Silent Hill: Downpour patches are still coming; forgive me for not being too expectant.

  • Grim Santo

So i can trade it in and get a less buggy Silent Hill HD for PS3? Thank?

  • Ross Ingram

Trade it for Silent Hill 2 : Restless Dreams on the original Xbox nice (NOT). What is Konami thinking?

  • Xander

“Trade it in for SH Downpour (patch still forthcoming).” Great.

  • DarkDreamTCK

I think you all should look at the brightside. All they did was cancel a patch and now they’re trying to make up for it.

They could have cancelled an entire game, then stuck their middle fingers into the faces of the fans that helped made it and allowed the franchise to remain in a state of essential death for a year plus.

This could have been MegaMan Legends 3.

  • tigerspaw

Yeah, I don’t want any of these. I’d like to play the game I bought 🙁
    A million fuck yous, Konami!

    • ariessiren

360 version is not that bad dude. it was no where near as unplayable as the ps3 version. for those of you who didnt play the ps3 version, you have NO idea how bad it was. like seriously…ps3 version was BAD. 360 version is glitchy but playable. just dont buy konami products anymore. vote with your dolla!!!

  • MassDistraction

Birds of Steel and Blades of Time… Now, if I went to combine these two titles I’d get the best Konami game ever.

  • I would like for them to name me one Konami game (released on Xbox 360) that I would want in order to do this exchange. Seriously.

  • SecretX

that’s a good deal. people get the sillent hill hd collection for ps3 problem solve 😀

    • ariessiren

totally. but just stick with the ps2 versions guys, even after the patch, the fog turned blue in sh3 and there is still audio hiccups, not nearly as bad, but its still like 90% vs 100%. the voice acting in sh3(new) is pretty bad

  • Koulamatata

Konami is starting to make me think that it’s time for some of these gigantic companies to suffer to make room for newer companies with fresher ideas.
A newer company that hasn’t had time to get so complacent yet that they’ll have some quality control.

Might trade my SH Collection for the MGS Collection, I guess.

  • Silent Evil

Sure seems like Konami wants to kill this franchise off for good. If it doesn’t have Hideo Kojima’s name stamped on the product they don’t see the value in it, I guess.

  • redsypher

Konami is to blame for putting out a game that was not properly tested. A small part of this blame does get diverted to Microsoft if Microsoft’s “update” policy made it difficult for Konami to “fix” their game. There are several instances where this policy has kept developers from “patching” their games, most notably in recent days, FEZ.

    • FEZ by Polytron is an indie studio. They also sold enough copies to warrant a new patch. They decided not to. Konami is a huge publisher, they could have also payed for the patch. It’s not like Sony is free either. Everyone has misheard info about this. Microsoft AND Sony charge for patches. I believe Sony charges by bandwidth.

  • This coulda/shoulda/woulda been a celebration of Silent Hill buuuut life ain’t perfect. Still playing the HD collection despite its flaws and I still got the originals and life goes on.

  • liam

Silent hill isnt getting treated with the respect it needs, such a shame konami just keep making things worse for the series Sh 1 2 and 3 will always be the better games. ( For me)
