Publisher Oro Interactive just gave us an exclusive first look at Video Ghastlies, the upcoming game by developer Katanalevy where survival horror meets classic cinema.
In Video Ghastlies, players will dive into the dark world of illegal VHS tapes, where each tape opens a door to a twisted universe. As you search for your missing sibling, you’ll explore nightmarish worlds inspired by iconic film eras, from 1930s gothic terror to Carpenter-inspired body horror, Italian slashers, and found footage. Uncover the sinister government plot to ban these cursed tapes before they find you.
A reveal trailer for the game was released, giving players a sneak peek into the different worlds they’ll need to face.
In Video Ghastlies players must:
- Journey Through the Tapes: Insert VHS tapes into the TV to unlock doors to haunting worlds, each inspired by iconic eras of horror cinema.
- Scavenge and Survive: Arm yourself with weapons and tools drawn from the iconic film worlds you’ll venture through.
- Face the Nightmares: Each world you enter is filled with unique enemies and challenges. Overcome challenging puzzles and face relentless bosses to move forward.
- Manage Your Safe Haven: Your apartment serves as your only safe space. Use it to review clues, save your progress, and prepare for the horrors ahead.
Video Ghastlies is set to release for PC later in 2025. You can wishlist it now on Steam.
