The development of State of Decay 3 has already been through a lot. Earlier this year, the developers showcased the title’s first gameplay trailer nearly six years after its initial announcement, while also confirming details about its playtests.
Following alpha playtests that have been ongoing since May, Undead Labs has now confirmed plans for closed beta playtests, allowing even more players to test the title.
While the exact dates are currently unknown, Kevin Patzelt, Creative Director at Undead Labs, says the team wants to stress-test the game before launch, saying:
We’re going to be expanding our alpha and then closed beta to more players over time. This is our largest map ever, and with untethered multiplayer, we really need to take the opportunities to stress-test and fine-tune.
Patzelt further stated that there will be many more opportunities for players to take part in the coming months, so those who don’t get access right away shouldn’t be disappointed. The team has also been working on feedback from the alpha playtests and improving the combat, movement, and cosmetics.
