Frictional Games and Abylight Studios have released the first trailer for the Switch version of SOMA, the deep sci-fi survival horror game from the team that brought us the Amnesia series.
While there is no official release date yet, the trailer suggests the developer intends to retain what made the original 2015 release a success in the horror scene. It was a big hit on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. In our review of the game, we declared it a “tour de force” that subjected players to a “finely crafted sensory” narrative. We also listed it as one of the best indie games of 2015.

With a deep and unsettling storyline, SOMA takes players to a remote underwater base called PATHOS-II, where we follow the events of a disaster onboard, trying to figure out how we ended up in this mysterious place. Players take on the role of Simon, who finds himself deep in the facility, face-to-face with mechanical nightmares.
Frictional has paid special attention to the atmosphere, aiming to build a constant sense of tension that accompanies us from the beginning, whilst we’re tasked with solving puzzles and escaping terrifying creatures.
Announced earlier this year, the Switch version of SOMA will be the first step in a plan to bring Amnesia: Rebirth and Amnesia: The Bunker – also developed by Frictional – to the console. No doubt fans of the studio will be happy to see it on the Nintendo hybrid system, which is said to be coming soon.
