With the series back in full swing, there’s a possibility that Silent Hill could have a new game coming out every year going forward. According to franchise producer Motoi Okamoto, the team remains hopeful about having “an annual release of new games.”
Speaking directly to GamesRadar+ at this year’s Gamescom, Okamoto went on to say that this could provide a chance for Silent Hill to move somewhat further away from its roots.
If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust [narrative] possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase.

This potentially opens the doors for studios to put their own spin on the series, allowing developers to “work within the types of environments and the types of storytelling that works best for them.”
We’ve already seen this these last few years, where different studios that aren’t Konami work on different Silent Hill games. The Short Message, although co-developed alongside Konami, was made by HexaDrive. Silent Hill f was made by NeoBards, while the remake of SH2 was done by horror veterans Bloober Team.
Even the upcoming Townfall is no stranger to this, which is being developed by British studio Screen Burn Interactive Limited.
Could an annual release potential water down the series? If Okamoto and Konami are keen for developers to experiment and interpret things their own, it could keep the Silent Hill name alive for a good while longer.
Silent Hill: Townfall releases September 24 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Check out the cast reveal trailer below, which was announced at Gamescom 2026.
