Bloober Team’s highly successful remake of Silent Hill 2 includes a playful nod to its publisher, Konami, by referencing a notorious grammatical flub from the past. Among the various enhancements and updates in the Silent Hill 2 Remake, a rather bewildering creative decision involves a subtle homage to the 2012 Silent Hill HD Collection, known for its many issues, including its infamous choice of the Comic Sans font.
The Silent Hill HD Collection, which was available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, faced significant criticism for numerous shortcomings that Konami never particularly addressed. One particularly amusing blunder from that collection was the signage for the Silent Hill Ranch, a location encountered early on in Silent Hill 2. The developers inexplicably opted for Comic Sans, a font that many consider unsuitable for the eerie atmosphere of the game. In stark contrast, the original Silent Hill 2 featured a more fitting, straightforward sans-serif font (a particular favorite of mine).
In a comical twist, Bloober Team has incorporated a version of this notorious Comic Sans sign into the Silent Hill 2 Remake. YouTuber GmanLives stumbled upon it by exploring beyond the game’s usual confines.
So if you clip through the ranch at the start of the Silent Hill 2 remake you can find the comic sans font sign hidden away inside. GOTY. pic.twitter.com/J855Vtk8am

While players won’t encounter the Comic Sans sign in the standard gameplay, those using the Windows PC version on Steam can adjust the camera to reveal this hidden Easter egg. A humorous reminder of the past, this Easter egg certainly adds a layer of enjoyment for dedicated fans.
Beyond this whimsical reference, Bloober Team’s remake is filled with subtle details that enhance the experience without overshadowing the original game. These thoughtful additions and nods to other entries in the Silent Hill franchise enrich the atmosphere, providing fans with new layers of fear to uncover (see what I did there?)
Silent Hill 2 launched on October 8th for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC via Steam. It released to “overwhelmingly positive” reviews, finally giving players the opportunity to explore these thoughtful touches and experience the game’s haunting narrative anew.
Keep on the lookout for our upcoming review of the title and in the meantime, enjoy the game for yourselves, whether you’re an old fan returning to town, or a new one strapping in for the ride.
