Resident Evil Requiem Confirmed for Switch 2, Alongside Native Ports of RE7 and Village

Resident Evil Requiem

After weeks of speculation, Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, the same day it arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The new entry follows Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft, as she investigates a series of disturbing deaths (including her mother’s own demise.) The game will revisit the ruins of Raccoon City and even allow players to step once again into the iconic R.P.D. station, tying past lore into a newer narrative.

For Nintendo fans, the news doesn’t stop there. Capcom has also confirmed that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, both in their Gold Edition formats, will launch natively on the Switch 2 the same day. These titles previously came to the original Switch only as Cloud Versions, which were criticized for requiring constant online connections, input lag, and offering an inconsistent experience.

This time, players can expect fully native versions, meaning these games can finally be played portably without streaming limitations.

It’s worth noting that Resident Evil 7, Village, 2, and 3 were technically already available on the Switch, but only via the cloud. Despite the hefty price tags, the inability to play natively was seen as a major drawback, particularly on a handheld console designed for on-the-go play. With Switch 2, fans can at last take the series on a long-haul flight without worrying about a shoddy Wi-Fi signal.

Early impressions suggest some visual corners have been cut to get Resident Evil Requiem running on Nintendo’s upcoming hardware, but the fact that it’s launching same-day alongside next-gen consoles is an achievement in itself.

While possible leaks hint at ports to PS4 and Xbox One down the road, for now, Switch 2 owners can look forward to a fully native horror experience when the game releases next year.
