Capcom says Resident Evil Requiem has played a major role in driving the recent growth of the entire Resident Evil series. In its latest financial results, the Japanese company revealed that the game has sold more than 8.06 million copies since its launch in February.
Interest in the franchise hasn’t been limited to the newest releases, either. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and the Resident Evil 4 Remake were all among the best-selling games of the quarter, while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village also finished in the top ten.

Capcom also noted that Resident Evil is now the best-selling Japanese game series not published by Nintendo, with the Resident Evil 2 Remake remaining the most successful entry in the franchise.
During the company’s question-and-answer session with investors, Capcom said:
Sales of Resident Evil series titles grew amid rising interest in Resident Evil Requiem.
We have also seen new users who encountered the series by purchasing past titles, creating a virtuous cycle in which sales of both new and past titles grow together.
Because of this, Capcom plans to follow the same strategy with Resident Evil Veronica, stating:
With Resident Evil Veronica, we will likewise work to further expand sales of the series.
It’s also worth noting that Capcom has run several promotions on Resident Evil games throughout the year. Those offers likely helped increase sales as well. For more Resident Evil related coverage, keep checking Rely on Horror.
