Take on Las Plagas and save Ashley (in HD) in Resident Evil 4 HD today

Today’s quite an occasion. Two notable releases–one new and one remastered–have launched today: Resident Evil 4 HD and Gears of War 3. Why is this notable? Well, think back to the original release of Resident Evil 4 and all the attention, commercial success and critical acclaim it received. Then fast-forward a bit to the release of the original Gears of War. It wasn’t kept a secret that Resident Evil 4 served as one very big influence on the development of the first Gears. So, it’s quite nice to see the epic conclusion to the Gears trilogy released on the same day as Resident Evil 4 HD. It all comes full circle in a sense.

So, about Resident Evil 4 HD. This remastered version of ‘one of the greatest games of all time’ will be available on PSN and via Xbox 360’s Games on Demand service by day’s end. It’ll cost PS3 owners $20 (or $10 if you’re a Playstation Plus member) and 360 owners 1600 msp. Despite some reviews bashing the game’s ‘HD’ aspects, this should still be in instant buy, especially for those who have yet to experience this masterpiece. Now they can do it in HD!

Below you can check out the launch trailer as well as a batch of new screens.
