Resident Evil: Revelations & Newly Announced Resident Evil: The Mercenaries Gameplay Clips

For the upcoming Nintendo Handheld, the 3DS, we have gotten new footage of Resident Evil: Revelations and the newly announced Resident Evil: The Mercenaries! There also was an announced “Resident Evil: Liberation” but it is unknown right now if that’s Revelations also or a totally different game. New footage of Revelations and The Mercenaries 3D was seen in the “3DS Gameplay Footage Montage” released by Nintendo. In Revelations we see some gameplay clips of Jill looking through the Cruise ship with Resident Evil 4 & 5’s camera system and facing a new type of enemy that grows things out of it’s body, drools blood, and has giant spikes and rotting flesh. It would seem these are some transformation from zombies. The Mercenaries seems to be an updated Mercenaries from Resident Evil 5 which we see includes HUNK as a playable character as well as new areas promised. Both are separate games coming out for the 3DS. See the trailer below.

UPDATE!!

From the Capcom Europe Blog, we’ve been able to find out exactly what Resident Evil: The Mercenaries is about.  In case the title wasn’t obvious enough, RE: Mercs is…well, Mercenaries +.  The game takes levels from RE4 and RE5’s Mercenaries minigame and throws them together with new enemies, new characters and a new dimension.  Alright, it’s billed as ‘stunning 3D.’ and I had to add in something catchy there.  Which characters are coming back?  Well take a look at our analysis on the official poster reveal for RE: Mercs to get our educated guess.  You can trust us, we’ve looked at a lot of Resident Evil images in our time.

RE: Mercs will add several new Mercenaries game play modes into the mix, just in case you thought that blasting through enemies was starting to get a bit stale.

And of course, what fun is Mercenaries if there isn’t co-op?  RE: Mercs will utilize the Nintendo 3DS’s wifi capabilities, so you can crush your opponents with friends around the world.
