Resident Evil: Revelations’ Large Storyline Is The Reason For Its Lengthy Development Time

This summer will see the release of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS. The game will include a playable demo for Resident Evil: Revelations, which is scheduled to hit sometime in 2012. Up until this time, we’ve been seeing a lot of content from Mercs 3D, while information on Revelations has been hard to come by. There has been some snippets, though, like the fact that Capcom is going into this project with the mindset being to deliver the next numbered sequel in the franchise. Now we have another short dose of new information for the game that also tells us why development on the title is taking up a good amount of time.

In a recent interview held between the game’s producer Masachika Kawata and Planet3DS, we’ve received the revelation that Revelations will have a huge focus on its storyline; a narrative that will be substantial when compared to the series’ past. Once again, this signifies Capcom’s intentions with this game which are to make it feel like Resident Evil 6, despite no number tailing at the end of its title. Kawata’s statement regarding the development of Resident Evil: Revelations and its duration sums it up nicely:

It might take some time to be honest…This time, the amount of script increased significantly and it will be a lot of work. We’ll make it so it will be a real horror experience. Don’t miss it!
