Rachel should’ve been in the Resident Evil Revelations demo (included with Mercs 3D)

Nintendo 3DS owners already have the oppurtunity to experience Resident Evil on the glasses-free, 3D handheld, thanks to The Mercenaries 3D. It’s not really a traditional Resident Evil experience, but it does include a demo for what’s set to be a classic, true-to-form Resident Evil title. That game is, of course, Revelations– scheduled to hit in early 2012.

This “Pilot” version demo that was included with Mercs 3D was rather brief, clocking in at no more than 10 minutes, but it did have some neat moments interspersed. From being able to peek into the room holding who we now know is Chris (tied down to a chair) to being confronted with the game’s new BOWs, the “Pilot” gave us a good idea of what to expect when Revelations hits next year. But then there was this other scene, towards the end of the demo.

Said scene saw Jill playing witness to a BOW brutally taking down a scientist. Jill was safe behind glass when this occured, so she was safe, until she entered the room , where we had to fight the BOWs housed inside. And the demo ended. But now, looking back, it seems like the scientist that was killed here should’ve actually been another character. Yeah, it should’ve been Rachel.

As was pointed out by some of our readers (thanks JT7!), Jill is actually spotted behind the glass witnessing Rachel’s death at the hands of the BOW towards the end of the just-released extended TGS trailer, as pictured above in the screen-cap. Rachel here is seen in the very same room where the scientist was in in the “Pilot” demo as well as being killed the same exact way. So, was the initial scientist always meant to be there or was he just a placeholder for Rachel, with Capcom opting to save her official reveal for a later date?

It’s an interesting query sprouted from one very interesting observation. What do you guys think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
