Penguin Colony Announced for Switch 2 and PC With 2026 Release

Penguin ColonyPenguin Colony is shaping up to be one of the more unusual indie games on the way. This Lovecraftian narrative adventure is set to launch in 2026 for both PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

It’s being developed by Origame Digital, the studio behind Umurangi Generation, and published by Fellow Traveller. The game puts players in control of different penguins as they explore Antarctica.

Penguin Colony Announced for Switch 2 and PC With 2026 ReleaseThe idea takes clear inspiration from cosmic horror, with links to stories like At the Mountains of Madness. Instead of human explorers, the story follows a colony of penguins that encounter strange and unknown forces beneath the ice. As they explore, players will uncover what happened to two human factions drawn to the South Pole, one trying to use the power of an ancient entity and the other trying to stop it.

Gameplay is built around how penguins move in their environment. Players will control multiple penguins, each with their own abilities. Some can enter tight spaces, while others are better at swimming or sliding across the ice. Movement includes waddling, sliding, and swimming through open areas.

A playable demo of the game is planned for the Summer Game Fest period in June 2026. It is expected to appear during Steam Next Fest and the Story Rich Showcase.

Penguin Colony will support several languages at launch, including Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, and Te Reo Māori.
