During the recent CinemaCon two weeks ago, the very first look at the latest Resident Evil movie was unveiled and met with a very positive reception. Today, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the official teaser trailer for the film, which hits theatres and IMAX on September 18th.
It’s co-written by Shay Hatten and Zach Cregger, who also directs the movie. As previously confirmed by the director, this Resident Evil movie will not feature any established characters from the game, such as Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, or others. Instead, the movie introduces a new protagonist.
As seen in the latest trailer, Bryan, the protagonist in the movie, is a medical courier delivering a package who finds himself in a Raccoon City outbreak. Austin Abrams, the actor who played the junkie James in Weapons, plays the role. The YouTube description of the trailer calls it a “new era of evil,” which has generated more anticipation for the movie.
Not too long ago, Zach Cregger stated that he knows that he will be crucified if the latest movie strays from lore. However, he plans to deliver something that offers the same intensity as the Capcom games, but without delivering an already existing story. Though it is a good approach, only time will reveal whether it lives up to the expectations.
Below is the first teaser for the new Resident Evil movie. Be sure to follow us to stay updated on the latest news about the movie.
