Silent Hill has made one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history. After lying dormant for over a decade, the franchise didn’t get a new entry until the Silent Hill 2 Remake (2024). After the remake’s massive success, Konami decided to push forward with two brand-new entries.
The publisher released Silent Hill f to both critical acclaim and strong sales last year and are now hard at work prepping Silent Hill: Townfall for release next month. The game’s developer, Screen Burn Interactive, have also shared more information about the title, recently confirming that the game will feature five different endings. They also plan to showcase a new trailer at Gamescom 2026.
Discussing the franchise’s revival at Japan’s CEDEC 2026 developer conference, as spotted by 4Gamer, Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto stated that recent entries like Silent Hill f played a massive role in keeping the franchise alive.
He further explained that the company wanted to avoid a “testing-the-waters remake,” as releasing remakes one after another would have shown fans whether Konami was truly committed to the franchise or simply playing it safe. Motoi then explained that if Konami had only focused on Silent Hill remakes, it would have brought back only half of the original fans. Motoi stated:
At best, only about half of the original users will return with a remake.
Therefore, to attract both new and returning players, the developers wanted to offer more than just Silent Hill remakes and earn their trust.
According to Motoi, the franchise couldn’t have achieved this without the launches of Silent Hill f and the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall, which is set to release on September 24 for PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players can also pre-purchase the game on Steam.
