Dead Space 3 to be determined by critical acclaim and commercial success

Speaking with Eurogamer, executive producer Steve Papoutsis let it be known that EA is already looking to expand the Dead Space universe by going to work on Dead Space 3. This will only be the case, though, if Dead Space 2 is met with praise and commercial success to compliment the high marks that EA hopes it’ll receive across the board. Visceral is also in the possession of a similar plan, what with them having mapped out where the narrative can go next beyond January 28’s Dead Space 2. Beyond this revelation, Papoutsis goes into details about the potential future of the franchise, here’s everything stated in a conveniently listed manner:

– Support from the gaming community is key in deciding the future of Dead Space.
– This is due to video game development being costly.
– Jokingly states how he wants to work on Dead Space 3,4,5,6,7,10, and 20.
– Visceral now thinking beyond Dead Space 2 due to them being mostly done with the main part of development for the game.
– States that an open-world Dead Space “could be kinda cool” but then reiterates that Dead Space is reliant on it’s plot, and he feels the open-world genre doesn’t handle that well.
– It was asked if Visceral will ever grow tired of making Dead Space titles, Papoutsis answer: No.
