Capcom Explains Strategy for Releasing Three Resident Evil Games at Once on Switch 2

Capcom is preparing a major surprise for survival horror fans. On February 27, 2026, Nintendo Switch 2 will receive three Resident Evil titles at the same time.

The lineup includes Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and the brand-new Resident Evil Requiem. By launching them together, Capcom hopes to appeal not only to newcomers who want to start fresh but also to long-time fans who have followed the series for years.

According to Masato Kumazawa from Capcom, the decision came naturally after testing how the games performed on the new hardware. “Actually, Village was the game we first prototyped and tried out on Switch 2 hardware when we first got the kit,” he explained. The smooth results gave the team confidence to try Requiem as well. When that game also ran without issues, adding Resident Evil 7 became the obvious next step.

Kumazawa added that this approach would give players a complete entry point into the modern era of the franchise. “It just made sense to us to release them all at the same time when Requiem comes out, so that in one go, you go from not having these games on Switch 2 to – if someone is a new player and they want to check out the three most recent games in the series – they can just jump in.”

In related news, Resident Evil Requiem will run at 600p on Switch 2 with DLSS and ray tracing, according to the first technical test results.
