Bloodlines 2 Walks Back DLC Controversy, Adds Two Clans to Base Game

After weeks of backlash, Paradox Interactive has confirmed that Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 will now ship with six playable clans in the base game, not four. Originally, the Lasombra and Toreador clans were slated as day-one DLC, a decision that went down about as well as a wet fart on a hot day. The reaction was so negative that Paradox quickly promised “adjustments,” and now we know what that means.

“Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing,” said executive producer Marco Behrmann in a statement. He also thanked developer The Chinese Room for their “quick turnaround on the concepts for the post-launch story packs.”

Those story packs were highlighted in a new trailer, which revealed Loose Cannon and The Flower & The Flame. The first puts players in the shoes of Camarilla Sheriff Benny Muldoon, while the second follows Primogen Ysabella Moore.

Both are set to release in 2026 and will be available either through the Premium Edition or as standalone DLC. The trailer even went so far as to clearly label what content is base game and what is additional, suggesting Paradox is eager to avoid any confusion this time.

After several delays, Bloodlines 2 is finally on track to release on October 21, 2025. Whether the addition of two fan-favorite clans is enough to smooth things over with longtime fans remains to be seen, but at least the launch lineup now feels more like a proper return to the game’s world and less of a cash grab.
