There’s no official announcement yet, but Frictional Games’ latest annual report appears to clearly mention Amnesia: The Dark Descent Remastered, with the game expected to launch before the end of 2026.
The project appears to be a remaster, although it’s still unclear how much of the original game will be updated. What is clear is that Frictional Games wants to bring back the horror title that first made the studio well known, with more details expected when the game is officially announced.
The information was first shared on Reddit after users found a section of the studio’s annual report mentioning the unannounced project. The report has since been confirmed.
The financial document explains that Frictional Games is mainly focused on developing Ontos, the new sci-fi thriller revealed during The Game Awards 2025. Unlike the studio’s previous games, Ontos is not expected to be a traditional horror title.
However, Ontos has been delayed because the team needs more time to finish the ambitious project. With its release now planned for 2027, there is room in the schedule for another game.
