As previously confirmed by the developers, Panache Digital Games, 1666: Amsterdam would launch in Early Access during the last week of August. Finally, during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the team released an Early Access launch trailer, marking a major milestone for the title.
The latest Early Access Launch Trailer is just over a minute long, showcasing Noa’s supernatural abilities and investigations, as well as the mysterious and dark version of 17th-century Amsterdam. It also offers a great look at the game’s combat against various supernatural enemies.
The trailer also focuses on Aaron, a character trapped inside a cat’s body who serves as the title’s second playable protagonist.
Players can switch between Noa and Aaron, with the latter being more useful for exploration and reaching smaller, harder-to-access places.
This is surely an interesting feature, as both Noa and Aaron offer different gameplay experiences and playstyles while working toward the same goal: investigating the city and uncovering its hidden paths. While not much has been disclosed by the team about the full release yet, it seems to be some time away, as the developers believe the game will remain in Early Access for at least a year.
