Rumor: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries Bio Ops coming to Wii U

It’s rumor time! Dual Pixels has just posted a list of Wii U launch titles that will be available through the platform’s eShop service (like the 3DS’s). The site reports that a source close to them, with “insider knowledge of Nintendo”, has fed them this information. So, yeah, this should be taken with a huge grain of Umbrella-branded salt.

Capcom is among the publishers listed as having content available for the launch of Nintendo’s new home console. And, yes, one of their two “planned” titles happens to be a new Resident Evil game.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries Bio Ops may or may not be coming to the Wii U’s eShop, since this is still just a rumor. But if this is in fact legit, then I’m sure we’ll get an official reveal at this year’s E3, where Nintendo is set to reveal everything consumers want to know abot their new console. So, about that name.

The Mercenaries Bio Ops definitely sounds like it could be a Wii U version of The Mercenaries 3D, sans the 3D, of course. It could also end up offering more content than said 3DS title. It’ll be interesting to see how the controls for this title would work– the tablet controller could definitely be used for item management and to give players a view of the map. And Bio Ops could also end up having features unlocked when connected with The Mercenaries 3D.

There’s only a few months left until E3 rolls around, so we’ll have to wait until then to see if this is a real thing or not. But honestly, I can definitely see this being legit– Capcom might want to make the series’ debut on the platform an upgraded version of a previous title (with a similar touch-screen set-up) to test the waters before pulling a Revelations and giving us a full-blown entry in the franchise.

Please, not yet-another Nintendo-exclusive. I’ve no problem at all with games coming out for Nintendo’s platform, why would I?

I just want them to release all games on all platforms. Is that too much to ask?

    I know, I know, it’s business.

  • When are you going to put up the ORC review?

  • OverCasanova

    Oh ffs.

I’ll just wait for the PS3 or PS4 version. Since nothing is so exclusive anymore. Look what happened with the Chronicles series. Silly Capcom…. I won’t be falling for any “exclusives” from you guys anymore. I feel bad for people who are going to Wii U just for this so-called “exclusive. LOL

    • Look at what happened to the Resident Evil 1 remake and RE Zero… they got ported to the PS3 and X360… Oh wait! No they didn’t! 10 years after they launched on a Nintendo system we still haven’t seen them on other consoles.

      Good luck waiting, bro!

      • Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles, and RE4 have something to say. They got ported.

        • I was pointing out that some exclusives actually do stay exclusive to Nintendo consoles. For 10 years in the case of RE1 REbirth and RE Zero. The Wii is also a Nintendo console.

Even the most recent games, like Umbrella Chronicles which is a 2007 game, it took that game 5 years (half a decade) to get ported to a non-Nintendo console.

The only Nintendo RE exclusive that was ported in less than a year was RE4. But with that game, Capcom announced the PS2 port 5 days BEFORE the Cube version hit the shelves. So there was no surprise about that one.

With the rest, you had to wait YEARS. From 3 to 10 years (or more, since Rebith and Zero are still exclusive to Nintendo systems).

So again, good luck waiting for ’em!

          • I never really liked Umbrella and Darkside games anyways. Same with Revelations…The only good games are zero and remake. I have played them. If I really wanted to play a game, I would get it, of course. The mercanary games looks as bad as ORC…just some bad spin offs.

          • It doesn’t really matter what you like or don’t or what you think of any of those games. That wasn’t the issue at hand here.

            The issue was this:

If anyone wanted to play Rebirth or Zero (legally), the only option they had was to play them on a Nintendo console. And this didn’t change for the last 10 years. If you wanted to play UC or DSC in the last 3-5 years, you needed to do the same. It generally took YEARS for most of them to get ported to a non-Nintendo console or system. Some have not been ported AT ALL.

RE4 was the RARE exception to that rule. Being ported within a year.

          • My point is if I want to play a game enough, I get the console to play it…but most Nintendo RE games aren’t good

  • i agree with u saturi and i dont think capcom will go to make an HD version of Remake and Zero cause if they do want that they will start to do it before Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles cause its older than them dont u agree?
