Famitsu gives Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D a positive review

While we here in the states won’t be getting the game till late next month, Famitsu has already published the first review of Resident Evil’s glasses-free 3D debut, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. And it’s a positive review as well.

Famitsu ended up giving the game a solid 33 out of 40 (9/8/8/8). The review mentions how fully clearing the game with each character will take you around 80 hours, whereas just clearing it with one character will take you about 8 hours. What does that mean? Well, it seems like there’s quite a lot of content and variety within this 3DS cartridge, not just carbon copies of Resident Evil 4 and 5’s mercs modes. Below you’ll be able to find a summary of the review.

  • The control feel that is unchanged from Resident Evil 5 and the beautiful graphics are high quality for a portable machine.
  • You’ll get addicted to score attack and strengthening your skills.
  • The ability to move while aiming your gun is a plus. Once you get used to having to press a button, it becomes useful in a variety of ways.
  • Cooperative play is exciting.
  • Until you get used to the narrow field of view, it can be difficult. However, once you do get used to it, the field of view can create a sense of tension and fear.
  • There’s strategy in character selection, and in using objects and terrain.
