Guillermo Del Toro never wants to work on a video game again

It was certainly good while it lasted. P.T. is now a tad bit over a year old, and the experience not only served as one of the best ways to promote an upcoming game, but it also has become lauded as one of the best horror experiences in recent memory. But…Well, I don’t think it even needs to be repeated…We all know what’s happened…

But there was still some sparks of hope when word got out about a mutual interest between Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro to work on another game together. But now, it looks like that dream is dead, too.

Speaking in an interview with Shack News, Guillermo Del Toro has made it clear that he “will never again get involved in video games.” Del Toro’ frustration is understandable, especially since the previous horror project he was working on with THQ, Insane, was also cancelled. It seems like Silent Hills’ death was the final nail in the coffin for his foray into video games. Here’s his whole statement:

“I have proven to be the albatross of video games. I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I have decided I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.”

Despite all this, Del Toro has reiterated that he still wants to work with Kojima as a friend.
