In-Depth: Resident Evil 7: Lantern Trailer Analysis [Video]

Totally did not expect to wake up to a new trailer this morning.

My¬†excitement for the latest entry into Resident Evil lore continues to grow, so I picked through the entirety of the new RE7 trailer to try and find every clue, question, and answer I could. There’s quite a few things hidden in this new trailer, so give it a look!

Nice video guys. The dog carrier may be similar to the crow in the microwave hinting at them returning, though the carry case is a much stronger hint due to it’s involvement with the environment itself.

    • Rourke Keegan

Yeah, someone sent us a link to that hands-on. We’ll cover it tonight!

      • Chris Hawk

        Awesome. I hope it’s good.

There is also a dog barking on Beggining Hour.

I can’t remember any main RE game without a dog (or wolf on RE4 and Rev1) enemy.

I wonder if the game will use these found-footage interludes to make use of a relatively limited space? As in, you explore both in the present and through flashbacks via playable video sections.

    • Chris Hawk

They are probably utilizing it for puzzles.

Or as a substitute to text files

        • Chris Hawk

True I still think text files would be cool too ,but man the found footage parts are really cool.

This is very nice guys, really.

I like to make two additions, maybe a little naive: The “bridge” connecting the gate to the house are similar to the one connecting the Palace with Alfred’s residence on RE Code Veronica.

The second is that we have a unexplored section of the Beggining Hour house that could lead to a underground area as well (the door at the basement where Andre dies. Maybe the underground of the town can be important to the story? RE always used underground structures as plot points.
