‘White Creek’ Brings Survival Horror Back To the Dreamcast

White CreekDo you ever long for the kind of groundbreaking horror games we got to experience back in the early 2000s on the Sega Dreamcast? Games like Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, D2, Carrier, Illbleed led the pack, ushering in some impressive technological advancements and narrative elements that pushed the genre into innovative new directions.

If you still remember and cherish this era, the small development team at Story Bird Studio has got you covered. They’re working on the first horror title developed natively for Dreamcast hardware since 2001 with their new game, White Creek.

White Creek already looks stylish as hell and nails that wonderful early 2000s aesthetic in a way that feels more authentic than some of the other retro-inspired horror titles that have released in recent years.

The game’s story follows Alicia Morelli, a freelance exorcist who investigates a cursed American town where possessed victims can either be killed or saved through exorcism. The game aims to capture the vibe of the horror storytelling from the era, and also incorporates fixed camera angles and multiple unique gameplay and puzzle mechanics, which were recently showcased in a new reveal trailer.

Despite being natively developed for Dreamcast, White Creek is also being ported to Steam and modern consoles, so everyone will get to experience it, even if you don’t own a Dreamcast. The game has a Kickstarter campaign starting soon to help move the development along and support more features being added to the game.

We’ll keep you updated as the game’s development moves forward, as this is definitely one for the old-school survival horror fans to watch out for.
