Silent Hill f is the next big game in Konami’s horror series, and it has a notable name behind it: Ryukishi07, known for the video games Higurashi and When They Cry. Speaking about his new project, Ryukishi07 explained that it is like… “a salad dressing.” These are his exact words.
The information comes from a presentation at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, where both Ryukishi07, Motoi Okamoto (the producer), and Akira Yamaoka (the composer and sound designer) attended.
Ryukishi07 explained that he approached this project differently from how he usually writes novels, focusing the story on a single central theme. According to Famitsu and translated by Automaton, the writer stated that at first, players will find it hard to tell the difference between the supernatural side of the game and the psychological horror elements because they will mostly appear the same.
However, as the game progresses, players will begin to understand more about what is happening, and at this point, the game will be like the “dressing of a salad.” Trying to explain the metaphor, Ryukishi07 said that by this point, players will be able to see how the two elements mentioned above are separate, much like oil and vinegar that separate after being mixed together in a salad dressing. Although this might sound like a strange way to explain it, we believe it makes sense.
Ryukishi07 also adds that, in addition to uncovering facts and clues about the city of Ebisugaoka, players will also have the chance to speculate and interpret all the information they gather.
Silent Hill f will be released on September 25, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
