Tangiers looks like Half-Life 2 by way of Cronenberg, Lynch

Tangiers, a stealth game set in a world where words hold physical power over its inhabitants, has just had a new trailer released today. And oh my word does it look and sound fantastic. Featuring a grim but unique aesthetic, Tangiers‘ looks like it’s going to play on anxieties surrounding its dystopian world where surrealist imagery, dysmorphic entities, and oppressive messaging can be found in abundance. It has the feel of something like Half-Life 2 by way of film directors David Cronenberg and David Lynch. I’m loving what I’m seeing (and hearing).

Backers won’t have to wait too long, as Tangiers will enter Beta on September 9. The game’s full release will be on November 26, 2015. As an added bonus, the song in the trailer (along with three others) are available to download on Bandcamp for your own chosen price.

I’m deeply regretting not backing this game when it was on Kickstarter. But I’ll definitely be picking it up once it releases for PC later this year.
