After weeks of odd teases and a well-constructed ARG, Frictional Games has announced today that SOMA will be releasing on PlayStation 4 and PC on September 22.
Today’s announcement is saddled with a whopping 12 minute gameplay trailer for Frictional’s latest survival horror title. The footage follows the game’s protagonist as he explores the underwater facility where he once worked, now populated by strange, hostile machines. If you haven’t been following the story of SOMA, some incident has caused a network of sort to gain, and/or absorb consciousness from crew members, leaving some machines in the facility to think that they’re people.
Existential dread will be abundant in SOMA, and it looks like the game is going to be a great successor to the Amnesia series. I can’t freakin’ wait.
