Silent Hill Revelation to have The Order as the antagonist

The first Silent Hill movie confused a lot of people, because the cult behind Alessa’s sacrifice was not The Order, but a Christian inspired witch hunting group. Their symbol was not that of The Order, and they did not worship any of the gods that The Order did. They were pretty boring and uninteresting. Thankfully, it seems that Revelation’s director, Michael J. Bassett, realized that and removed them from the upcoming sequel.

On the director’s blog, Michael J. Bassett confirms that the cult from the first film will not be the antagonists in the sequel.

“It is The Order and not the cult from SH1.” said Bassett when replying to a fan comment.

I think this is a good thing. The witch burning group may have been more understandable to movie-goers, but The Order has a much more interesting belief system. Creating a paradise with bloodstained hands is just cooler than boring witch burning and Westboro Baptist antics.
