Silent Hill f Hinako Voice Actress Says the Role Left Her in Tears

Silent Hill f

Konatsu Kato, the voice actress for protagonist Hinako Shimizu in Silent Hill f, explained in an interview with Famitsu how the role had a profound impact on her mental health.

Kato said that her early recording sessions felt “smooth,” but things soon changed as the story became more complex. She was often asked to perform the same scenes several times, changing how she spoke or felt each time because the story had different paths and endings.

As she explored these emotional variations, she began to lose track of what was real. She started asking herself, “What am I, what is Hinako doing now, and where?” When she had to act opposite another version of Hinako — voiced by a different actress — she admitted that the confusion reached a breaking point.

“There were times when I would burst into tears without even thinking about anything,” she said. “The more time I spent facing Hinako, the more my confusion grew. I remember there were days when I felt like I was going crazy.”

Despite the emotional strain, Kato said she admires Hinako’s depth and complexity, especially for such a young character. Yet she has no desire to meet her fictional counterpart. “If I ever enter a world like that,” she said, “I’d want to disappear right away.”

Rely on Horror’s review of Silent hill f gave it a score of 9 out of 10, stating, “Silent Hill f is not a perfect game, but it is a worthy addition to one of gaming’s most storied horror franchises.”
